Hello Everybody,

I am currently in the Army and I got a few years left before I ETS. I am looking to start a part time business cleaning carpet and tile. I used to work for Servpro a few years back. I was wondering if any of you have had a franchise and if you think it would be better to start my own independent company when I get out or purchase a franchise. Also, have any of you got a business loan to start your business or did you just acquire stuff over time. I am open to any suggestions any of you may have. Thanks for your time.

Hey everyone, I'm from Pa. I currently work for Stanley Steemer but am looking into getting into the business of working for myself by doing carpet and tile cleaning and if business goes well enough then possibly add other cleaning services to my business. Don't get me wrong at Steemer we can do good cleaning but I think the pay is bad for what we do and some guys just buzz through a job without ensuring they've done what they could to get the areas cleaned as best as they could have and I do not want my name associated with that kind of work. I know I won't have it to buy a truck mounted system right away so I am looking into the portables and other equipment from Rotovac, but are there any recommendations on an appropriate portable? I know its best to get a heated solution type system but do the portables have good enough suction to get a thorough clean carpet? I'd also like to note that I would like to get into both carpet and tile to begin with. Sorry for the long post!

Hi folks ... I am new to this form

I have a small cleaning business and I am thinking on expanding to Rotovac.

Currently I do general office and residential cleaning, floor scrubbing and buffing. Little carpet cleaning using RugDoc wideTrack machines.

I have been reading tons of websites trying to figure out a carpet/tile/grout cleaning combo machine

Pro: one machine does all three jobs
con: if the machine breaks, then can't do any of the three.

folks, any advice on this catch 22? What is the reliability of Rotovac 360(i) and a cfx pump in-out? Given all the reading about cfx, what is the advantage of having a truck mount?

1- There is Rotovac brand and pricing
2- There is the Master Touch floor cleaning machine. How does Rotovac compares?
3- There is Daimer machine. How does Rotovac compare?
4- There are tons of spinner wand out there

so ... how one chooses one over the other and why Rotovac? The company is in CA. If the machine breaks how do I get it fixed?

Thanks
Mike

Hi everyone-

im the proud purchaser of a new rotovac dhx. I'm just getting my new business started and would love any advice from the veterans out there. From what I've seen and learned this business can be highly lucrative, especially in an economy that sees people rather clean a carpet than buy a new one for thousands of dollars more. I'm excited about my new business and would love to learn more techniques and procedures that would make me look good to my customers.

I've seen what some of my competition offers than I'm confident that I can blow them out of the water. Those stanley steamer chumps don't have anything on the rotovac system but higher prices and a less than favorable final product for twice the labor. I've found that the first 2 minutes of a dhx cleaning are more than to suffice for the price of an honest cleaning, and to tell you the truth, people are honestly ecstatic to see me provide that for them. Even though my business seems to be expanding exponentially by word of mouth alone, I've also had great luck with my rotovac website, these guys make me look like a pro!!

Despite all this, I believe my business can do even more, from what I've researched there's an even more effective way to reach your customer base, direct mail. Those little value coupon packs your get in the mail.. just put your number and website on those and... I may have to buy and new van...

Hi everyone,

First by reading the title you may laugh. By posting this thread I want to say the ways to live long.

1. Throw out non-essential numbers. This includes age, weight, and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay them.

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.
(Keep this in mind if you are one of those grouches!)

3. Keep learning: Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain get idle. "An idle mind is the devil's workshop." And the devil's name is Alzheimer's!

4. Enjoy the simple things
